Marvin
Yazzie, a Navajo Nation Tribal member, and his wife
Jonette were raised near
Canyon de Chelly in the Four Corners area of
Arizona in the small town of Lukachukai.
The
traditional ways of flute making were taught to
them by a relative, W.F. Coyote.
Yazzie
Flutes are known for their clear singing tone. They
are sold in stores throughout
Utah, Arizona, California and Oregon, including the
renowned Heard Museum Shop in Phoenix, AZ.
They are played and enjoyed by thousands of people
throughout the world.
Yazzie
flutes are also played by professional flute
players Raven Longbow, ElkWhistle,
Windwalker, Illari, Fernando Cellicion, Scott
August and ethnomusicologist Ernest
Siva.
